New Web Site
The new WNGM website is up and running. For those of you who have used the website before, it's a little different from the original one with lots of new features including a photo of the month page, a blog, a gallery and a newsletter section.
The basic plan is to make the website as interactive as possible with photos and articles sent in by the members. These can be about anything narrow gauge from other garden railways visited or even actual narrow gauge railways. We have started the ball rolling with a couple of articles already posted. If you would like to contribute an article, anything sent in must be in your own words and photographs must be taken by yourself - this avoids issues with copyright. Also added to the site is a fairly comprehensive links page that enables you to navigate the site.
One big change to the website is the blog section. To those of you that have never used a blog before, this is how it works. Topics are posted on the website and people reply to them. Then people reply to replies and so on - kind of like an online chat between members. This section is only available to club members so you will need to enter a password to enter this section. Once you have logged in you will be able to click on the various blog topics and read the comments. If you wish to reply to a comment, click on the “post a comment box.” At this point a box appears asking you the fill out some basic information - your name and email address- (ignore the box that appears asking you to enter a web page) Once you have given this information you can leave your comment. The reason you have to leave this information is that it helps protect the site. Please be reassured that the personal information only goes to Chris so that he can check that you are who you say you are. Any inappropriate comments will be deleted. Once you get the hang of using the blog it’s a really good way of keeping in touch.
Also new is the DT sales section. This is also password protected. The plan is that members can advertise items for sale on the website. These will still be sold and collected in the usual way at a club meeting. Not allowing purchases over the internet reduces the risks of fraud. Any items for sale should be emailed to Chris
The web site www.withingtonngm.co.uk is up and running, it just needs your input to make it a great website so get snapping with your camera and get typing and we can make this a really useful asset.
Cheers Jim & Chris
